ARTIST PROFILE: DAMAGED MENTALITY ZINE
What inspired you to start making zines?
I had been a fan since the late 90’s. The loss of good friends and hope fueled the writing process, at first. After my brain injury I couldn’t read a novel anymore (I have memory loss). Zines were a way for me to keep in touch, in a heartfelt manner.
What is your creative process like?
I write of subjects that baffle me. Things people do, things I do. “Stuff” I cannot reason with.
Which part of Twin Cities Zinefest are you most excited about?
"The surprise" of when I meet someone who writes a zine that I enjoy(ed) reading.
Who are some of your favorite fellow zine writers?
Claire & Meredith of When Language Runs Dry, Dave of Black Carrot, Chantel G. of Drive-In & Open Book, Aaron Poliwoda of Low Blow, Ashlee Swanson of Regeneration, Lamesha of Cocoa/Puss Zine.
Do you have any plans for your zine-related future? If so, what are they?
I’d like to exhibit at Expozine, Montreal’s annual small press, comic and zine fair.
